Renewable diesel is produced through a high-heat, high-pressure process from renewable fats and oils, and is chemically similar to conventional diesel, but significantly more environmentally friendly. This allows renewable diesel to be a drop-in and is a one-for-one replacement in any vehicle, ship, or train that operates on petroleum diesel at a much lower carbon intensity, near-zero sulfur emissions, and zero percent aromatics.
